a swimming pool with no bottom

Every morning when I wake up and don't enjoy a cup of rather hot caffeine I find that the day drains me.  So enough of this "cutting back" nonsense.  I'm having my caffeine and I'm going to damn well enjoy it.  Dark water with the essence of bergamot or the life-giving ground bean water.

The move of big objects (names the bed and the dresser and the chair, I hope) will happen either Tuesday or Wednesday.  My room in the apartment may not be big enough, but I've ordered some storage from a relatively inexpensive but decent quality swedish furnishings store.  I called something "storage solutions" and almost got myself stabbed, though I used the phrase ironically.  If I can pile things on top of each other, I'll be good.  I won't be wasting bookshelf space on digital versatile discs or compact discs - they're getting their own storage solution.  I may need to get another desk yet, but I'll see.

Must remember the perspective.

Moonshine is up and running.  I played a bit of COD4 this morning when I awoke and it had no graphical hiccoughs.  What a relief!  I'm interested to see how this puppy handles things and also how the story plays out in COD4.  The graphics card came with a copy of COH, which saves me the twenty bucks it would cost to get the game on Steam, though I think if I were to shell out thirty bucks I could get the game plus the expansion in a brick-and-mortar.  Of course, then I'd be stuck with a box for which I'd have no use.  (I've a drawer full of boxes for which I've no use any longer, I might drop those suckers off at ebgames and see what they'll give me for them.)  I plan on playing the simple game before I try the expansion, as time allows.  Playing WOW with the settings cranked is a very different experience - one by which I am pleased.

I also listened to the KCRW morning becomes eclectic podcast featuring The Submarines.  Their song "Swimming Pool" (with which they opened the show) made me download their latest album HONEYSUCKLE WEEKS.  I am pleased.  This music is pleasant and keen and makes me feel less anxious within my own whatever.

Work is an adjustment.  I still feel like I'm the revolving door at the entrance of the country through which people pass unhindered.  Occasionally I get asked to do a french series of questions, but I'm not officially bilingual and have difficulty forming the questions for which I need the answers or asking supplementary questions.  But I'm getting there.  I'd be keen to practice if there wasn't a legal liability to that scenario.

I'm such a nerd that the recent release of fourth edition D&D has made me want to play and or run a game.  Of course, I enjoy running games and my old games languish as I get swamped by the other things in life (by which we seek to be swamped and by which we occasionally don't notice we'll be swamped).  I don't own the books yet, but I will have them.  It is inevitable.

I've been following the EURO 2008 championships, but my schedule means I can't watch them.  Not unless I squander my days off in front of a television.  So maybe I'll get to see the later rounds.  We'll see.

In the mean time I'm getting things moving.  Off to work!
